It's way to early to be up on a Saturday morning, but the horses need to be fed.
They come to that gate as soon as they see me coming

Seamus has to eat alone. The pony is boss around
here and he wouldn't eat otherwise
Stich is up, getting some standing time in. (Yes, I know that she way to close to the
t.v. but she's losing her eyesight and we're not sure how much she can see at this point)

Email, facebook etc. while I wait for everyone else to get up.

Quick trip back out to the barn to put all the horses back together

Looks like a nice day! We used to live in the city and the view was a construction site. This is so much nicer.

The Crocodile Princess (she's been addressing herself as that since she was 2) is up....and not
happy about it!

That's better

We still suck at country living and I realize that we're completely out of bread
and low on milk and eggs so the Crocodile Princess and I make Saskatoon berry
muffins

The kids play while we wait for the muffins to cook

Stitch's meds are now organized for the week

Muffins!

The Crocodile Princess requests that we play "Big Chef, Little Chef" again tomorrow
Somewhere in here there is mad chaos as I get 4 kids (the older 2 would prefer not to appear
in here) ready to go to town to pick up some much needed groceries

Shoes

Keys

Parking Pass

Town

While the older kids go off and spend the money they earned working for our neighbor,
we have fun without them

While she doesn't really play much anymore, Stitch still loves to look at toys.
This has been one of the hardest parts in dealing with her condition for us....so far.

Food for people, food for horses

Waiting for our return
At some point lunch is eaten,

Nails are painted. 2 of 4 makes a cameo appearance

Toys are played with

Naps are taken (she will probably never win the Sleeping Beauty award)

Guinea pigs are serenaded (only Henri makes an apperance,
Lenni is camera shy)

We decide to forgo any formal phycial therapy today and opt to go riding instead.
Stitch feels that this is a good decision.

Waiting for horses. 1 of 4 makes his cameo

Big Spider! The picture does not do our Charlotte justice.

Horses are dewormed

Crocodile Princess helps

Zan is wary and not fooled by the promise of a nice shiny apple. He knows that we are up to
things that can only be considered unpleasant.

Time to ride!

The roundpen was here when we moved in...it's really ugly, but works well for the kids

Stitch got Zan as a wish from the Children's Wish Foundation. Even on a bad day, her pony
can usually make her smile

She doens't realize that this is actually physcial therapy. We're sneaky like that.

Supper for horses

Supper for people. We were attempting to recreate some of the food that we ate while we were
in a Beijing. Not bad for a first try.

Evening meds and high calorie supplement for Stitch. It seems strange trying to search
out high calorie/fat choices because we're so programmed to do the opposite

Story time in mommy's bed

Little kids in bed, time to enjoy a nice evening on the deck.

Amazingly Beautiful.
Your family/life is beautiful, I seem to remember last yearish you DITL wasn't as happy as this. I loved the "peak" inside your day. Thanks!August 30 2009, 23:16:10 UTC 2 years ago
Re: Amazingly Beautiful.
Thank you :) I think we are in a much better place this year....most days. It's exhausting picking up the pieces of your heart everyday, but somehow we have found the strenght to keep going. She's such an amazing little kid!August 30 2009, 19:11:45 UTC 2 years ago

:D!
Also, love the rainbow reins! Reminds me of when I taught riding at my summer camp...we had gotten all the kids mounted up for the trail ride, and I was getting on my boy for the ride--TeePee. I asked the kids if they knew what my favorite thing was about TeePee, and I told them my favorite thing was his purple reins! The other staff laughed at overhearing this, and brought it up in subsequent summers, but hey--it got all the kids laughing and relaxed! :P
I took a look at her website you linked to above, and I think a family friend may have had a similar diagnosis...I'll have to check with my parents, but this was also several decades ago that it happened to him...

I believe that this is the recipe that I used http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Jordan-Mar
Then I just switched the blueberries for saskatoons. It was a good reicipe...the kids all asked if I could make them again.

On a lighter note, your kids are beautiful (yes, even in cameo shots!) and you look adorable as well. How old is the Crocodile Princess? I'm fixing to arrange a marriage with my oldest (he'll be 4 next month), if that's okay with you. ;) I don't recall your post from a year ago, but I am going to dig in the archives and look for it. Although I am sure that your life is hard, it appears that you have done every thing you can to make it beautiful and that is to be commended. I fear that I would be bitter and angry more often than not and forget to look for the good. It seems that you have mastered that technique.
Your family is beautiful, and you are amazing. I hope that you never forget that - on the toughest of days, that you can remember how you have done all that you can to make Stitches life a sweet one.

Crocodile Princess turned 4 this summer and definately keeps us entertained. She's a pretty independent spirit so I'm not sure how she'd feel about an arranged marraige, but we could try. ;)
I think the last year's ditl should have a link somewhere on my lj page. It was a theme entry entitled "tough". I did that entry one week after Tatyanna's diagnosis with Batten Disease. In some ways it's hard to look back and see how much we've lost over the over the last year....but at the same time it gives me strength to see how far we've come in our ability to cope and make the "new normal" the best it can be.
